The Runway meets Run-away Bride
Its January and for most of us its a New year and new start.
This time in the industry is personally one the most exciting times of the business in the year.
Its dark and still cold and so everyone is crowded around their computers and devices with hot drinks having a look at the latest sales and newest things.
Keen bloggers, fashion enthusiasts and amateurs are all updating us with the latest trends in fashion style and weddings and we are no different here at the Castle.
In the pre season launch there are predictions and ideas everywhere. Everyone is an expert and everybody has their own take on the world of fashion and what it means to them. That is exactly what I love about fashion it is never set in stone.
For Bespoke vintage castle we are spoilt for choice we have the best of both, we design our unique wedding pieces based on key trends from the runway and therefore there are a myriad of options for us to be inspired by in both the wedding world and fashion industry.
For me it is always a joy to blog about my findings! So grab a hot drink and have a browse!
Now with fashion and choosing the details and theme for a wedding we all know nothing progresses without colour..
So first there is always colour!
We are most excited with the Pantone list of spring 2016 colours:
"Colors this season transport us to a happier, sunnier place where we feel free to express a wittier version of our real selves."
Leatrice EisemanExecutive Director, Pantone Color Institute™
They are gorgeous aren't they?
We are especially loving the Peaches, Iced coffee, buttercup and limpet shell...
Then there are the two colours of the year; Rose Quartz and Serenity. They are perfect for the wedding and fashion world combined, they are perfect for romantic natures and symbolise: peace & order.
To celebrate the new colours of the year we designed our brand new Bridal bouquet: Serenity Rose.
She is filled with pearl, crystal brooches and delicate beading the flowers are soft touch foam meaning they are beautiful as well as the perfect keepsake to remind you how trendy and bespoke your wedding day was.
She is available to buy on our Etsy store for a limited time only. We will only create two Serenity Rose Bridal Bouquets, so she is rare as well as gorgeous, and both will be different meaning your bouquet has not come out of a catalogue or made on a conveyor belt it is truly one of a kind bespoke and no one else in the world will have one just like you.
Apart from colour I will personally share just a few practical ways to incorporate the latest trends of the fashion world with the wedding world so that you can be inspired to include some haute inspiration for your own special wedding day.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN PLEASE BE SEATED
Would you like to be seated? Couples are moving away from a reception layout based on large round tables, which has a tendency to feel too much like a conference event, and are instead opting for either very long, rectangular tables or a mix of long tables surrounded by smaller square and round tables — all for a more intimate vibe. And lounge areas, complete with comfortable seating options remain crucial as part of the cocktail and after-party hours.
HOT TIPS: The key to setting a romantic mood? Ambience. You can create a more romantic and intimate environment Event designers say they’re using more pendant lights with bare “Edison” bulbs, chandeliers (both vintage and modern) and candelabras to cast a soft glow.
FASHION REPORT: THE ORIENT EXPRESS
WE ARE GOING TO BE SEEING ORIENTAL PATTERNS AND THEMES IN FASHION. FOR THE FASHION CONSCIOUS BRIDE THAT DISTINCTIVE SHADE OF CHINA BLUE THIS YEAR WOULD FEATURE PERFECTLY IN A WEDDING PALETTE ; KIMONO DRESSING GOWNS AS GIFTS FOR THE BRIDAL PARTY OR BEAUTIFUL ORIENTAL FLOWERS IN YOUR BOUQUET.
SAY IT WITH FLOWERS
Who needs Boring flowers any more? Potted trees, succulents, ferns, lavender sprigs and decorative leaves (such as magnolia, begonia) are no longer reserved for anchoring flower arrangements.
It is out with the old and in with the quirky when it comes to your wedding blooms. Fresh flowers at weddings are perfect for decoration but Brides are coming to us for something a little different. Our bouquets are proving so popular with brides because they are heirlooms that last and are made custom to order and that is special.
So to for the table centres now, we can share what is trending for Brides 2016.
Hand on heart... and we are sorry but we never want to see this at a wedding again...
Brides are bored of that now ..WE WERE THINKING MORE LIKE THIS...
Everyone’s a foodie these days, so it’s no surprise that savvy couples are including elements like coffee beans and fragrant herbs (say, mint or basil) into centre pieces. Petite seasonal fruits and vegetables are another way to pile on colour.
A budget-friendly elegant idea is to adorn bare branches with crepe-paper flowers, beaded pearls or sparkly jewels. Quirky vintage finds are also key for this years look, AND NOT ALL TABLES NEED TO LOOK THE SAME!
FASHION REPORT: FLOWER POWER
WHILST ON THE FLORAL THEME THERE WAS A REVIVAL OF QUINTESSENTIAL BRITISH CULTURE AT THE S/S 2016 SHOWS. MANY DESIGNERS OPTED FOR DELICATE MEADOW PRINTS, THE LOOK BEING EFFORTLESS CHIC AND RELAXED. BOTANICAL MOTIFS ARE CONTRASTED WITH TOUGHER FLORAL RUFFLED DRESSES.
SERVING UP A STORM
Why go for the bland cold soup on the menu? Serving favourite family dishes or food from your ethnic background is another way to make your wedding more personal. Abstract ways are being thought out to present your food now, it has become like art.
Something for everyone. With the rise in dietary restrictions — gluten free, vegan, no dairy, etc. — couples are circling back to giving guests a choice of main courses, served family style or pre-plated.
Try this trend: Passed hors d’oeuvres and desserts are gaining ground over fixed stations. “This style of service lets guests mingle, and no one will miss out on the great food
Instead of opting for the traditional overpriced Sunday roast for your wedding why not try gastronomical glories, they are Abstract, artisan and artistic as well as delicious...don't know where to start? We highly recommend Award winning Thomas the Caterer and the awesome Toby's Kitchen Details will be at the bottom. Also for unique drinks Visit Mambo Mobile Bars. What a perfect way for your guests to know who you are by offering them your perfect libations? Maybe the drink could be the brides favourite we served a Caribbean pineapple punch on our wedding day because I love it so much. The personal stamp makes all the difference after all it is your day!
FASHION REPORT: ART AND FASHION COMBINE
Also just like food the fashion world has dabbled in Art this year. It wont be the first time art has meshed with fashion and this season is all about the abstract art. Trends based on delectable fashion pieces merging together a vintage theme of Make-do and mend popped with bold brights theme with bold prints and straight lines. delicate dishevelment, chaotic stitch work and innovative fabrics are key in this abstract artistic new trend.
FOR GOODNESS CAKES
Pile on the Butter cream! After taking a back seat to fondant-covered cakes, butter cream textures are in demand again. Speaking of frosting, sometimes you just don’t need it. “Naked” cakes are trending again too simply adorned with berries or fresh flowers!
Lets talk taste: A vanilla cake just won’t do any more! One of the most requested flavours for 2016 is salted caramel. Others on the rise: white chocolate mousse, lemon, champagne, lavender-vanilla, apple spice, green tea and chai latte.
Hand painting is another versatile trend, lending itself to a bohemian vibe or something more luxe and elegant. This is a great way to pick up the motif of your dress or your invitations (especially if they’re also hand painted). Or try it just for the wow factor.
FASHION REPORT: CLUB TROPICANA COLOUR POP
The best way to show off bold colour on your wedding day is through your cake. The link back to fashion is that our final key trend are: Digital prints in bright colours with repetitive patterns forecast this year..
ACID YELLOWS, BRIGHT PINKS AND ORANGES HAVE BEEN JUXTAPOSED ON CLASHING FABRICS
